When a team is short, it can borrow players to help in league or tournament games. Guest players are helping, so they don't pay the borrowing team any fees.
The club's rules
- SBV players MAY NOT guest play or double roster with any other club, recreation team or independent premier team.
- SBV premier players MAY play within our own club.
- Guest players must come from another SBV premier team or the SBV Juniors Academy, never another club or an independent premier team registered through SBV.
Borrowing a player
- Check the league's or tournament's rules for how many guest players you can use.
- A coach who wants to borrow one of your players asks your coach, who then tells you, and you arrange the player card and paperwork with the other team's admin.
- Fill in a guest player form at the HTG Tournament Center (make yourself a login): you need the player's name, their coach's name and email, and the team ID number on their player card. It's required for league AND tournament games.
- Get the guest player's card from their team (and their medical waiver for a tournament), and show them to the referee before a league game or at tournament check-in.

| Heartland league games | Up to 3 at the premier level. They play up, never down: from one or two divisions lower, or a younger age group; not from the same division. Heartland's rules |
| Tournaments | Up to 5, from any SBV team in your age group or a younger one. Divisions don't matter. |
Double rosters
- A player rostered on two teams is a primary player on the lower-level team and a secondary player on the higher one.
- They can't be on two teams more than two divisions apart for league play.
- A true double-rostered player pays team fees to both teams.
